What the notice says about the reason for the outages
The notice is a Kenya Power maintenance schedule, and the data we have does not give a more specific cause for individual outages. Where the notice gives a time, we have used it. In some counties the notice text names places that differ slightly from the area headings, so look for your estate or town in both lists above. Times can also change if work finishes early or runs late.
How to prepare for a planned power cut
If your area is on the list, a little preparation goes a long way:
Charge phones, power banks and torches the night before.
Save and back up any work on laptops, especially if you work from home in places like Parklands, Westlands, Kasarani or Karatina.
Keep drinking water stored if your supply depends on an electric pump.
Unplug sensitive appliances before the work starts, since power can return suddenly.
Plan your cooking and ironing for before or after the listed hours.

Get power outage alerts before the stima goes
Reading a long schedule on your phone is easy to miss, and plans change. Nijulishe combines Kenya Power's official maintenance schedules with reports from the community, so you can get a power outage notification for your area before it happens instead of finding out when the lights go off. Set up alerts for the places you care about, whether home, work or your parents' house upcountry.
